Party Time and more twine

It's Party time in the U.P. and more twine on this layout which, I did for my son Brian's scrapbook. I like to tear paper-as I did again on this page and then punched holes with my Big Bite and added the twine in the three areas- added a few embellies and the puffy alpha's and this page was done. I will be entering this layout also at The Studio Challenges this week for using -Twine

5 gold items for 12 days of Christmas

I used 5 gold brads on this layout for my son's scrapbook (hard to see - 1 on top right corner 1 on lower left corner and 3 on lower right corner) I will be applying this for the 12 days of Christmas Challenge over at Frosted Designs.

Is an Owl considered a bird?

Here is my take for the 12 days of Christmas over at Frosted Designs blog..not sure if an Owl is a bird but if not there are 2 birds on the tree branch in the background of this page.  I used several papers from my stash and tore the edges and layered them then added a Mambly acetate sheet ove the top of it which has the owl and birds on them. I then placed some chalk colored areas behind the owl to make it stand out more and some cut out moths from some designer papers added the brads in the corners to attached the acetate sheet to page

Three pages for three different books

I did three pages for 3 different books using all the same papers and ideas and mostly the same pictures in under 3 hours- this was great. They are misc. pics from my cousins wedding we attended  and I wanted each of the three children to have a page for their books.

 I made alot of my own embellies such as the flowers on the top page from paper towels ( which I already had made and was in my stash) and the journal tags and added some tulip paint for flourishes.

 This page for my son I punched the flowers and hand cut all the green leaves and inked them in 3 colors of green and again did the tulip paint for flourishes

And the last page I did the flowers from paper towels and flourishes but added some cream paint as borders on all the pictures. I used papers from DCWV "Once upon a time" stack which had the purple colors I needed to pull out the colors of the clothing- to try to pull all these misc pictures together.

Recycle Christmas cards on many layouts

This was a great challenge and I really did some recycling on 4- 2 page layouts for my kids. I had all these photos of Christmas 2007 and I wanted to do a page or two for each kid with pics of them during our family get together on Christmas. So I thought lets see what embellies I can find in old christmas cards/tags and I found alot.

 Each one has a different theme to their page  Christmas trees and wreaths

 Brian's page is snowmen and I also cut some snowflakes from my Cricut cartridge to add a few more embellies

 Eric's page is some old ribbon on a tag, foam stickers from some Christmas decor, and the cutest Santa tag with bulbs hanging -so I cut from Cricut some more bulbs and added glitter to them

So I recycled a few christmas cards for these layouts and what was left I will add to my stach of holiday embellies for future use...this was a great idea. I will be applying these or one of these layouts to the challenge over at Frosgted Designs this week.

More Cricut cuts..and great grandma.

Here is the final layout of Great Grandma -Flo for one of my kids scrapbooks and I used several Cricut cuts, the color yellow and my handmade doiley flowers. I added rhinestones to the center of the flowers made a banner with her name and some misc papers in the yellow and brownish grey undertones-to match her outfit and the colors in the photo.

Happy Birthday-DAD!!!--- 4 layouts

Wow- was I ever busy this weekend doing 4 pages for my kids scrapbooks using all the same pictures, but 4 different layouts and papers on them --I used the sketch over at  Sketchy Thursday to do one of the layouts for my sons scrapbook (who is in both of the top pics) . They (all my kids) were at their dad's house celebrating his 47th birthday a few years back and they took these few pictures and wanted me to scrap them. I have uploaded all 4 of the layouts in this post -  the first one I will be applying to Sketchy Thursday challenge this week.
     I used Tattered Angel Mists for the background on white textured cardstock and then went thru my stash and found strips of papers , then machine stitched the border in black thread added or stamped a few swirls . I hand stamped the title and the saying then cut them out and put on with pop dots. The saying is " You never know when your making a Memory."

 This next layout is for my oldest daughter's scrapbook (blue & grey sweater in center photo)  and I will be applying this over at The Paper Variety for the challenge this week "Family" All the papers used in the next three layouts are from the Recollections paper stack. I machine stitched around the inside border( blue and grey circle pattern) which matches the colors in my daughters sweater and stamped (Cloud 9) design all around the edge and some misc. leaves and saying inked with a light blue. Made my own journal tag and inked  all edges of mats with black. I like how I scattered the photos-and put them at different angles it gives the page some motion and fun like feeling- which is what my kids had- a great & fun time.

 The next layout is for my son who is in the yellow and brown striped shirt in the photo -so that is the reason I pulled these colors out for this layout. I used my Fiskars circle cutter for the 4 circles, brown inked edges and blue/teal ink for the mats, Stamps (variety) for the title -saying -leaves -hand cut out and attached with pop dots and some journaling on the circles. I like the color combo in this layout the best-which make the pictures really pop.

 And the last or 4th layout is for my other daughter who is in the top left photo - and I really didnt have a color to pull out from her clothing so I went with the pink - for her rosy cheeks....and browns. I matted all the photos with white cardstock (which make them stand out against the pinks and brown papers) and just inked the outside edge of the layout. Again, I used Papers from Recollections and all the same stamps- and did the journaling on the blue/teal striped paper. The "Dad" is not a stamp- I hand wrote them since I couldn't find a big stamp like I wanted.

I had a fun time doing these layouts this weekend and I'm glad you took the time to come and check them out. I know I have a silly madness to how I try to pull out colors and how I lay out my photos- so each child stands out in their layout- it also helps me to  remember which one goes in what scrapbook...if this makes any sense ---it works for me.

SWEET layout

Here is a Sweet layout of my son enjoying a waffle cone while at Universal Studios a few years back. It is also one of the only pictures that I got of him while on this vacation- he was too cool to have photo's taken at this stage and age in his life. As you can see by the expression on his face- I snuck a photo of him....

 Papers used were We R Memory Keepers, scraps from my stash in strips and a sheet from K&Company for the greyish polka dot background. I cut all the pin wheels from the paper and added a brad to the center of each one. I used my Gypsy and Cricut to cut the cone out from the Doodle Charms cartridge and title sweet from Printing Press.

I will be applying this layout over at Sketchy Thursday for their sketch challenge and over at FCCB #69 to use a summer treat on a project "I scream for Ice Cream" which is almost what I titled this layout but changed my mind. I used some chalks and inks for the ice cream cone for some dimension.

Fear Factor LIVE...champ

This layout is for Sassy Lil Sketches this week and it worked out great because I had alot of photos to put together of my daughter trying out for the fear factor Live challenge at Universal Studios back in 2005. And guess what she WON- she was the CHAMPION that day. It was so much fun as her mother and sitting in the audience watching her do all these stunts and competing with others to win. Most of the pictures that I took were of the huge tv screen on the set when she was on it- otherwise the photos wouldn't of turned out to great. This competition lastest about 2 hurs long and they had tryouts for aver an hour before they picked 12 contestants- so it was an all day event for our family and we had such a great time. This page is for my sons scrapbook who was there watching the whole event and wishes he was old enought to try out at the time.
I used papers by Daisy D's and yellow cardstock- Cricuts cuts from Printing Press 101- for the titles,  black ink and a marker for the faux stitching and distressing and some misc stickers. I then painted with white acrylic paint uneven edges on all the photos as the mats for them to stand out a bit more.

Sketches in Thyme #50

Here is my take for the Sketches in Thyme challenge this week and again another few repeat photos for all the different albums I work on for all my kids- but at least they are all different layouts with all the sketch challenges that I do weekly. I used My Mind's Eye-Complete Boy stack and grey and white cardstock -very simple papers here- which makes it fun to do a  layout in a short amount of time. Other materials used are; circle punch, stamps, silver glitter glue, misc stash sayings, fine glitter by Martha Stewart, red marker, pop dots and a sewing machine using blue thread.

On the left side border I used a circle punch to punch out the circles and add them to the right side of border strip with pop dots and then used the negative circle space and stamped an image in the middle of them with the grey cardstock showing through

The Scrappiest #122 sketch challenge

2 gruelsome twosome- my son and his look a like friend " Shaggy" at Universal Studios back in 2005. This was such a comical moment when we just happen to run into Scooby and Shaggy and my son Eric at the time kinda looked like Shaggy and they both just happen to have on kinda the same color of clothes. So we had to get a photo of this moment- they thought it was pretty cool also. And the other pic is of my son and daughter by the mouth of Jaws at the park also. This layout if for my other son's scrapbook- who was there- but had an attitude this whole trip and didn't want to be in any pictures.

I will be applying this layout at The Scrappiest and also over at  Scrapbookers Anonymous- which you are to use mini papers at least 3 of them which I have used 4 of them in this layout. I used K&Company and Provo Craft bitty scraps pads for all the papers. Brown and cream cardstock and used a Cricut cut for the large square scalloped edge with some eyelets in the 4 corners. I also used K&Company chipboard embellies and some twine in several areas. I used white acrylic paint for the mat borders and blue and brown inks for distressing, and a distressing tool for the edge of blue mini pad paper

Creative Scrappers #157

Here is a quick page I did the other night for Creative Scrappers #157. Its a photo of 3 of my 4 kids at Universal Studios when we went there in 2005.

I found this paper with a map of the united states and thought -great I llike this and it has the colors I want also. So I didn't want to cover it up to much so added a few embellishments and ink the edges and did a little journal spot and it was done.

Brians First Paycheck

This is a few photos of my son back in 2005- he was so excited to receive his first paycheck working at Jewel- and I was so proud of him to go out and get his first job as soon as he turned 16. And its now 6 years later and he still has a great job at Jewel- while attending college This sketch is from Sketches in Thyme #48.

I used K&Company papers from my old stash, inked and distressed the edges, stapled on a white mesh, and from my stash of paint chips used for the background mat of photos and the strip for the stamped $ signs. I found some chipboard sayings that were appropriate for this page and added a few metal large button brads, and found the dollar bill picture in a magazine and cut it out. 

Handsome Young Man...my son

Here is my take for the challenge of using mist, inks, or paint on a project at The Paper Variety. I used paints and inks on this layout of my son while dressed up for a wedding a few years back. I hand painted the flourishes on the top and the bottom of page and also hand painted the mats around the three pictures in cream. I also used some black ink for distressing on the papers.

I love the colors that I pulled out in the page(masculine) and the grey textured special paper in the background pulled it all together well and added a few little flowers and brads. I wrote the title on the pinwheels (which were cut from the papers I used from my all scraps) by hand "Handsome young man"

 I then added Stickles glitter to my hand painted flourishes for a little bling.

Reflect

Here is my take for the May Guest Design Team Challenge at Sketchy Thursdays...they asked you to get a bit artistic with this sketch of theirs this month. And that I did. I started with a piece of grey textured cardstock and a few colors of acrylic paint (4) and painted my own background design. Then I stamped in white paint the little starburst circles over the painted area. Then with some large clear Alpha stamps I added the title to the bottom and outlined with a maroon marker.

 I handmade the accordian flowers and added two punched cirles with a stamped image to the top of them. I also painted a white mat on the photo and a few journal spots - I'm really happy how this page turned out for my son's scrapbook-no flowers -so to say for his page. Just some paint that looks like it is reflecting off of the photo.

layout titled "SHINE"

This is another wonderful sketch #151 from Creative Scrappers that I did as soon as they posted it on Sunday- I knew right away what photos to use- and this layout is for my son who is dressed in the maroon shirt- so guess what colors of papers I pulled out?  Your right Maroon- misc papers from my stash with no company name- so they are pretty old but worked well with these photos.

 I also handmade the accordian flowers added some 2 toned teal and white twine on them and then made a matching banner with the titled "Shine" on the punched out circle with pop dots. I stamped in Distress Ink- victorian velvet some circle do-dad looking shapes all over the background and hand drew stitch lines all around the border of layout. The new Challenge over at Frosted Designs this Friday  is to do a project with hand made embellishments- so I will be adding this to the DT inspiration projects. Handsome-young man

Here is my layout for the open challenge this week over at Sketches in Thyme- such as easy one to do. I picked my sketch from Page Maps book #2 that I bought this past Christmas for myself.  It is a 8 1/2 x 11 sketch, which I just made into a 12 x 12 with 3 photos. I really like how it turned out and I love the colors in this layout of my son at my cousins wedding back in 2004.

I used papers by Pebbles, Kaiser Crafts and Colorbok, chalks, brads, chipboard, alpha stamps,Martha Stewart marker, gold ink, painted thin mats around photos in Antique white, alpha stickers tags and inked edges in avacado green and gold.

Sketchy Thursdays sketch challenge

Here is my take on the layout this week over at Sketchy Thursdays- there is no title on my page it explains itself in the photo's. I used My Mind's Eye Complete Boy stack papers and white cardstock, Cricut cuts with Plantin School and Mickey & Friends, journal spot(yet to be down) brackets in chipboard, diamond Stickles and pop dots.

Many Parks

Here is my take of the sketch over at Let's Capture these Sketches #74 this week. A variety of photos taken at several of the parks at Walt Disney World with my boys a few years back. Since there were so many different colors and many activites going on in the photos I looked through my older stash of papers and found this light colored wavy line paper and painted the light blue mats on the pics The green swirl paper is by American Crafts (older stack). I used alot of older embellishments like the chipboard buttons and some sticker sayings and alphas in orange for the title on the side. So I will be also applying this layout over at Scrap Our Stash - March Dust it off challenge -

It's Magic- again

Its Magic- again another page for the 3 different albums I'm working on- I can't wait to get these Walt Disney pictures done and work on something new, almost finished a few more to go.
 This layout is for The Scrappiest #111 sketch this week and I used My Mind's Eye- K&Compnay( Daydreams) white cardstock and misc strips of papers. Chipboard buttons were heat embossed in white and yellow and ribbon tied on, Fence was cut from Heritage Cartridge from Cricut and chalked in light brown, Inkadinkado stamp on the background with Stickles added to the middle, and gold sticker alphas for the title.
